Pretend that you are talking to a blind man and have to describe for him what "red" is. You should use narrative and descriptive writing techniques, and try to appeal to his other senses!

A way in which I would describe the color "red" to a blind man would be by saying it is a color that seems to attract sadness.  The color red is usually gloomy, the color of blood, and the color that seems to represent sadness.  This color is also known for symbolizing sin, guilt, pain, passion, blood, and anger.  All of these things are symbloized red because they all seem to represent some type of sorrow, or some type of evil, or something unwanted.  Sin is a type of evil that is not wanted, which goes back to relating to the bible.  Guilt is also something that is not necessarily good because it is something most people feel after one knows that they were in the wrong.  Pain can be caused by so many different things, it can be physical or emotional pain.  Anger is another thing that the color red can represent because it is explained by many people that when one is angry their blood is boiling, which may or may not be true. But blood is red, where all of these things seem to have a relation in a way.

How does competition function in our society? To what extent is it healthy/unhealthy? Offer some real world examples taken from your life, community, culture, state, nation, or world.

Competition is a contest between individuals or groups. There seems to be competition in our society, such as sports, school, artists, music, etc.  There is competition between both team sports and individual sports.  Teams such as football, baseball, soccer, and many other sports include competition between all the teams that play.  Competition can be both healthy and unhealthy.  Healthy competition encourages everyone involved to push themselves harder than they would have without competition.  Unhealthy competition is when your reaction to others success is negative, rather than inspiring and motivating you.  A way in which I've seen competition is when there are new singers barely starting to become famous and older singers try harder for their old fans to continue to listen to them.  Another way competition is applied in my life are sport teams such as high school sports, there are many people that have friends at different schools within our district, yet we have to compete.  Competition is both a good and bad thing, it is much better when you are having fun and trying to do your best rather than being a grouch and always trying to be the best all the time, when one is always trying to be competetive and is a bad sport about everything those people seem to be classified as brats because they try to be everything they want and end up being bad sports in the end with a bad attitude.

How have you taken something that you have learned in the classroom and integrated it into your nonacademic life?

Something that I have learned and have applied to my nonacademic life would probably be communicating better with people such as using academic language when speaking with an adult or just holding better converstaions with peers. Using academic language around peers or family, or anybody is a good habit to pick up on, this habit will definitely help you in the future when needing to speak to a boss which is important, or when writing essays in the future for universities. Speaking better can also help you to pick up on a more professional way to communicate which will definitely help you, especially if the occupation you're interested involves people skills and attending to people. Another way using more precise language has helped and benefitted me is to communicate better with teachers, and I know this skill will greatly benefit me in my college years whether it's speaking to a professor of mine or applying academic language to assignments I will be expected to complete in the future. As I said before it will greatly benefit me with future occupations and communicating with other professionals.

If you could go back in time and be someone in history, who would you choose to be? Why?

If I had the opportunity to go back in time to an era in history, I would go back to Jesus time. I would choose to be someone who was not necesarilly important but just to witness everything throughout that period. The reason for wanting to go back to that time is to see why there are so many religions now if everyone were Jewish back then.  There are so many different religions to day that believe different things, I'm curious as to know why there are any other religion except or the Jewish religion, that was obviously the religion of the man that everybody believes to be the son of God and that majority of all the religions worship, then why would they have so many religions today, that some do not even recognize Jesus to have any importance? I think it would be really cool to go back and live in that period to see why there are religions that were invented throughout the years, especially to see why there are different beliefs and different things to practice throughout their religions.

If you had the responsibility to decide where $1 million should be spent to improve conditions somewhere in the world, what project(s) would you choose? Why?

If I had the opportunity to decide where one million dollars should be spent I would choose a place where there are many children in a city or county that are children that do not really have home to go to very night, or a hot meal to eat before they go to sleep. I would choose to make a facility where kids could be put in this place to be taken care of as far as given the necessities one needs to survive, as well as to provide them with an education to hopefully go on to be able to pick up on skills one needs to be capable to searching for a job and later being employed. It is getting harder and harder for people to make a living now a days and there are many kids that do not have families that care about them and are very smart, they just have no way to express how smart they are and are not being able to receive the type of education they deserve to go on in life to do bigger and better things for themselves. The type of facility I would choose for that money to be spent on would provide kids with a nice place to sleep, an education, and meals to be given to them. There are public schools, but not all kids don't necessarily have a nice place to go home to or parents that care, or a place where they are fed or being told to go to school or staying out of trouble or things like that. This facility would provide all of these things for kids such as providing them with the things they need and holding activities to keep them out of the streets and staying out of trouble.

How have you tried to effect change in relation to an issue of personal, local, or national significance?
A way in which I have tried to effect change in for my local community is trying to stop hunger of local AIDS patients in my community. I have tried to make change by delivering meals to local AIDS patients. The organization I volunteer with prepares hot meals, as well as putting together a bag of food that will last them two days until they will be delivered more food. I think what I do is really cool, I have fun while I'm making a change in my community.I think it is a really cool thing for everyone to be involved with, when one delivers food to the patients or clients, had they not given them their food they would not have the proper food or nutrients to keep them healthy for the next few days, especially those with a special diet they need to be on, they may purchase the wrong types of foods when buying their own food or may add a wrong ingredient when preparing food for themselves.I have made change in my community by allowing these people to receive the nutrients needed to stay as healthy as they can while they are ill. I think this is an awesome thing to do and a very cool thing to be involved with, as well as a very cool way to give back to their community.

If you could introduce one new idea or material thing to a primitive culture, what would it be?
Something new I would introduce to this primitive culture would be to allow only good music rather than having unwanted music artists as well as genres that are unwanted by many people. For example, I am assuming this culture would have its own place that all the people of this culture are from, so in the place that they originated from there would be no country music allowed, no electronic music, no classical, no heavy metal, and any other genre related to the other genres stated. As far as artists not being allowed, there would be no Lady Gaga, LMFAO, Justin Beiber, and any other major artists that would fall into the same category that these artists fit in to. I think it would be cool to have a place where there is only good music being played all the time, the artist that I would definitely choose to be played for this primitive culture would be Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, Drake, Lil Wayne, Tyga, Too Short, Travie McCoy, Plan B, Daddy Yankee, Rick James, Teena Marie, and any other major artists that have the same type of music as these artists. Introducing these artis to a primitive culture would maybe keep their ears to only like artists such as these or any artists that sound like them. I think that would be really cool where the people of this culture would only like music like that and hopefully be accustomed to listening to music like the genres above and hopefully not like the artists that I stated would not be allowed.
